Top traditional chiefs in Egbaland are now divided over the Iyaniwura chieftaincy title rejected by Senator Iyabo Obasanjo-Bello, and the circumstances that led to the rejection.

An Egba chief, who wanted to remain anonymous, told P.M.News that the decision of the Alake of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Gbadebo, to put in a proviso which states that Iyabo must apologise to governor Daniel before giving her the title, has caused some disagreement between the Oba and his chiefs.

The chief added that some of the Egba chiefs are of the opinion that the Alake should not have danced to the tune of anybody declaring Iyabo as a security threat to the state, as she is the bonafide representative of the Egba at the National Assembly.

'The present situation in Ogun state is like a growing pregnancy; nobody knows what it will deliver. Egba people will do everything to resist any stranger from dividing them,' the chief stated.

Recently, Senator Iyabo Obasanjo-Bello placed an advert in a national newspaper apologising to invited guests that she is no longer accepting the title of Iyaniwura. The event had been slated for Saturday, 15 November, at the Alake's palace.
